         M

  • Mask - a cosmetic product, applied during a beauty treatment, to the skin of the face hands feet or body, for a specific purpose

  • Massage - the manual manipulation of soft tissues of the body for therapeutic effects

  • Melanin - naturally occurring pigment found in skin and hair

  • Melanocyte - an epidermal cell capable of synthesing melanin and changing the colour of the skin

  • Melanoma - a benign or malignant skin tumour

  • Mesomorph - a well developed muscular body type

  • Microcurrent - a modified electrical current resembling the body's own bio-electrical impulses, measured in micro-amps it is a million times smaller than an amp

  • Microcurrent therapy - the use of the microcurrent for therapeutic purpose to rejuvenate, increase cellular metabolism and improve skin tone and texture

  • Micro-dermabrasion - an intense mechanical exfoliation process that rejuvenates the skin

  • Middle note - a measure of the evaporation rate of essential oils, they have a moderate evaporation rate and are absorbed into the skin fairly quickly

  • Moisturiser - a cosmetic preparation that adds moisture to the skin and maintains hydration levels

  • Motor point - the point at which the nerve enters a muscle and when stimulated by a faradic current produces a visible contraction

  • Muscle - a mass of fibrous body tissue capable of contracting and producing movement

  • Muscle tone - a degree of tension in a muscle, the inherent ability of the muscle to respond to a stretch

  • Muscle strength - the ability of a muscle to exert force during an activity
