front cover nameThis is a thorough and comprehensive beauty therapy textbook, providing all the underpinning knowledge that students, undertaking a course in beauty therapy Levels 1, 2 and 3, will require. It will also be useful to those undertaking a part time course in beauty therapy, spa therapy, makeup, manicure, pedicure, advanced nail techniques, body massage or aromatherapy. It is a recommended text for all awarding bodies and is an excellent source of reference for S/NVQ's, Specialist Diplomas and other qualifications.

It is in full colour with specially commissioned artwork, detailed diagrams and the accessible Fact File format allows you to find the information you need quickly and easily.

Having been in the beauty therapy industry for thirty years, I have become aware of the need for a book, which includes the subjects covered in the syllabus of every awarding body and also that provides additional material in order to enhance the therapist's knowledge.

It is important for the student to become commercially competent and familiar with the constantly changing trends in beauty therapy, therefore this fourth edition includes material for the new beauty therapy standards to be implemented in 2004.  Also included is a comprehensive list of Professional bodies and Associations who provide an essential service to all in the beauty therapy profession.

Beauty therapists have to acquire a great deal of knowledge when undertaking any course. Whether you are studying on a full time programme in beauty therapy or part time, learning one of the individual skills, which form part of a beauty therapy qualification, this book will provide you with the essential underpinning knowledge you require to help you achieve your objective.

Once qualified it is essential to continue with your professional development, this may involve:

  • Embarking on further courses to achieve your chosen qualification.
  • Post graduate training in advanced treatments and techniques
  • Management training
  • Starting your own business

Whatever the case it is important to have a source of reference to help you on the way.

This book will provide that reference, it is an invaluable guide to the principles and practises of beauty therapy covering all aspects of the subject important to both the student and practising therapist.

It has been my intention to produce a book, which will appeal to all ages and levels of ability, providing a comprehensive and factual source of reference for teachers, students and practising beauty and holistic therapists. In fact anyone who has an interest in the world of health and beauty.

This book is the only one of its kind to cover all levels of NVQ/SVQ's and to include the critical additional material to expand and reinforce knowledge. Written in easy to read sections, it will assist students in their studies, aid in revision for assessment and provide an easy source of reference for those returning to the profession or refreshing their technical knowledge.

Students studying for the following qualifications will find the Beauty Therapy Fact File especially useful.
