Preparing for Inspection and Registration when using Laser and IPLAs Laser and IPL treatments are becoming increasingly more popular with clients the demand for salons and clinics providing these treatments is growing rapidly. As part of my continuing professional development programme I recently attended a course, which I think is a must for any therapist or entrepreneur hoping to set up in business using Laser or IPL for hair removal or skin enhancement. Premises in which class 3B or class 4 lasers are used fall within the scope of the 'The Care Standards Act 2000.' This Act establishes a framework for social, private and voluntary healthcare in England and it covers any establishment using prescribed techniques and technologies such as class 3B and 4 Lasers and Intense Pulsed Light equipment. These establishments may include beauty salons, clinics and other premises that are using these lasers for any cosmetic purpose. The three day course was detailed and thorough providing a step by step guide to preparing for registration with CHAI, the 'Commission for Health, Audit and Inspection.' Prior to CHAI the NCSC, the National Care Standards Commission was the body recognised by the government to regulate and maintain standards in social care and independent healthcare providers, to ensure consistency and quality of services throughout the country. They had the power to refuse or cancel registration or to prosecute anyone breaching regulations. Experts in their field have recently developed this course, they are professionals who have been through the process on many occasions and wish to pass on their knowledge to others. If you are a beauty therapist who wishes to take on a laser or IPL system but are daunted by the seemingly endless task of preparing for registration then this course is most definitely for you. It could save you a great deal of time, help you to understand the regulations and requirements of the National Minimum Standards and explain the process of registration and annual inspection.
